Non-Contact Part Length Measurement up to approx. 15 m

… with material movement, permanently high precision – in transmitted light

The final measurement of very large parts is complex, staff-intensive, but still prone to error. If the maximum measurement length of a continuous SLM longitudinal light grid is not sufficient for the part length measurement of 5 m, but there are not more than 4.5 m between the shortest and longest material to be measured, a permanently installed two-part length-section light scanner can be used. This may also be necessary if the space for the use of continuous length-section light scanner is insufficient. If there are more than 4.5 m between the shortest and longest material to be measured either several SLM/2 gauges can be used, or one of the two light curtain subsystems can also be shifted according to the expected length. In such cases, ELOVIS offers the unique two-parted SLM light scanner technology for the 1/10 mm accurate final measurement of discrete parts. For even longer lengths, the use of the μSPEED laser encoder is ideal. The non-contact final measurement of discrete part lengths takes place with the SLM as with the μSPEED during the part movement in the longitudinal direction. The measurement serves the production optimization as well as the good/bad sorting and documentation of the delivery condition of parts. SLM and μSPEED systems are used to measure the length of profiles, tubes, plates, beams, bolts, struts, rails, hubs made of a wide variety of materials.
