Applying length-proportional imprints

Control of Inkjet and Laser Marking Units

Do you print products in the process with a length measurement? However, the length varies depending on the products surface, speed or movement ramp? Tactile encoders which control inkjet printers or laser marking systems rely on a slip-free implementation of the product movement into a rotational movement. Especially with smooth, moist, soft, slightly fluctuating or abrasive material surfaces, slippage and wear should be a problem. Non-contact μSPEED length measurement systems do not have these problems. μSPEED systems are able to achieve a consistently high measurement accuracy on a wide variety of surfaces and thus print a consistently correct measure of length.

Typical materials with printed length scales:

  • Paper, Cardboard, Tissue, …
  • Film, foil, plastic packaging
  • Textiles, carpets, nonwoven, fabric
  • Webs, sheets, foils of metal
  • Cable, wire, rope
  • Profiles, tubes, strands
  • Control cabinet back panels

Typical machines with measurement problems:

  • Roll Cutter, Cross Cutter
  • Winding machines, Rewinders
  • Lengthwise cutter
  • Printing presses
  • Web presses
  • Doctor Roller
  • Inkjet printers
  • Laser marking systems
