However, a material quantity acquisition and production optimization seems to be too complicated? … The temporary recording of length data with a calibration system in the various process stages creates transparency, provides facts for locating sources of interference and ultimately leads to the optimization of the processes. This includes the regular check of machine counters or length measuring devices as well as the trouble shooting to find system malfunctions, such as slippage on the drive, wrong roll diameter, unsuited machine tension. … With a sensor weight of just 0.9 kg and equipped with an optical adjustment device, length and speed measurements can be recorded with high precision from a safe distance. To do this, the μSPEED gauge is set up quickly and safely, parallel to the machine measurement by means of a tripod or magic arm. Following the plug and play concept, μSPEED as a tripod based sensor for the measurement of length and speed need neither parameter setting, nor otherwise adaptions to the material or to the application.
