Surface and diameter independent length measurement
The length measurement of wire is carried out in different applications. For example, already in production in drawing machines, during spooling or rewinding as well as during lacquering or finishing, i.e. length cutting. Due to the raw material prices, the sales lengths must be adhered to as precisely as possible. Maximum accuracy and reliability can be achieved with the µSPEED non-contact laser encoder systems. All materials and surface qualities are measured, starting from a diameter of approx. 0.2 mm.
Typical Application Data:
- Length measurement of wire, bare wire, coated wire, … with small and large diameters
- Line speeds: up to approx. 2,500 m/min (rarely higher)
- Measuring accuracy with tactile measuring equipment or via drive: typically 1 – 2 %.
- Measuring accuracy with non-contact length measurement µSPEED: typically: 0.03 %
- Amortization: 1 month, direct encoder replacement, no other modifications necessary
Material Examples:
- Wire, drawing wire, bare wire, bare wires, enamelled wires, cored wire, winding wire
- Wire of iron, copper, brass, aluminium, stainless steel, silver, gold, alloys
- round wire, flat wire, profile wire, square wire
- strands, stranded wires
- Wire reels (spools, reels, spindles)
Machines which are equipped with non-contact length measurement:
- Winding machine, Rewinding machine, Wire cutting machine
- Wire drawing machines
- Stranding machine, …
