Speed without limits: Sibusiso Kubheka breaks the 6-hour mark in the 100 km run, powered by the latest µSPEED innovation
At the legendary Nardò Ring in southern Italy, Sibusiso Kubheka triumphantly broke the 6-hour mark for 100 km in an astonishing time of 5:59:20, beating the previous best time of 06:05:35 by an enormous 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
The Athlete:
Speaking of the history-making performance, the new 100km record breaker Sibusiso Kubheka said: “I’m so proud of my performance out there today. Breaking this record and becoming the first person to run 100km in under 6 hours was not easy – but thanks to adidas’ partnership, belief and bespoke technologies, we made it happen. When we combine the best athletes, the right preparation and sports Innovation, anything is possible.”
On 26 August 2025, Sibusiso Kubheka became the first person to complete a 100 km run in less than six hours. This unique running event was organised by adidas to demonstrate what is possible when the world’s fastest athletes come together with the latest speed-oriented innovations.
The Speed Measurement:
It is important to note that over a distance of 100 km, half a second per kilometre ran was decisive in achieving this record. This was made possible by highly accurate speed measurement. Neither the speedometer on the vehicle in front, nor GPS or other measuring devices were able to determine the current pace with such accuracy. Therefore, a µSPEED-SMART-S5/240 with its unbeatable accuracy was used.
ELOVIS is proud to have contributed to this record.
