Where do the discrepancies between purchase length and sales length come from?
Films are purchased as roll products, processed and sold again as roll products. However, there are often differences between the length of purchased materials and the length of finished products. The reasons for this are manifold. Analyzing them is the key to increasing profitability.
The manufacturing process changes the lengths by stretching or shrinking. In manufacturing, defects cause scrap lengths to occur. Samples are taken or samples are produced. What should not occur under any circumstances is that the purchased length already does not correspond to the specification on the incoming goods rolls.
Today, the measurement of the produced lengths is done by non-contact µSPEED laser encoders from ELOVIS. µSPEED laser encoders work reliably, material-independently and accurately and are suitable for the direct measurement of differences (differential lengths or even differential speeds) between incoming and outgoing products (or within intermediate process steps).
By the non-contact µSPEED gauges from ELOVIS, both speed and length can be determined easily, reliably within minutes.
