Fabric jet speed, wire speed and transverse distribution
The measurement of the fabric jet speed in fourdrinier paper machines has since been possible only indirectly via the pressure of the plant. The measurement of the velocity distribution over the width of the headbox, as well as the direct determination of the ratio of material jet velocity and the advance speed or lag speed of the wire are comparatively easily possible with μSPEED.
Typical application data:
- Jet speeds: typically up to 2,500 m / min
- Measurement accuracy by conventional means: indirect and usually very inaccurate
- Measurement accuracy with non-contact length measurement μSPEED: typically 0.1 – 0.5%
- Amortization: 1 – 3 months, measured value display, data storage, system control
Measurement / Material Examples:
- Measurement of the jet velocity at headboxes
- Measurement of the jet velocity over the headbox width
- Measurement of the wire speed in the headbox of the paper machine
- Troubleshooting to find wrong machine settings
Machines which are equipped with non-contact material jet measurement:
- Paper machines with a wire screen
- Nonwoven machines with wire
- Headbox of board machines
