non-contact measurement of vehicle speeds
The speed of rail vehicles and other vehicles is generally determined on the basis of the static friction of the wheels and their rotation. However, as soon as the ambient conditions are not ideal, the contact measurement fails. Moisture, dirt, wear, … change the measurement conditions and falsify the measurement results. With μSPEED sensors, the measurements are independent of the general conditions and permanently accurate.
Typical application data:
- Speeds: typically up to 6,000 m / min
- Measurement accuracy with tactile measuring equipment or via drive: only at low speeds
- Measurement accuracy with non-contact length measurement μSPEED: typically 0.03%
- Amortization: 1 – 3 months, PC for display and storage of measured values, fixed mounting on the vehicle
Measurement / Material Examples:
- Measurement of the speed of rail vehicles, trains, carriages
- Measuring the speed of motor vehicles, cars, trucks, commercial vehicles, agricultural vehicles
Vehicles equipped with non-contact speed measurement:
- Trains, locomotives, railcars, wagons, towing vehicles
- Cars, trucks, commercial vehicles
- Agricultural utility vehicles
